UK Government abandons NHS contact tracing app - BBC News
The government has abandoned its plans to use a smartphone app developed by the NHS for tracing people exposed to coronavirus infection.
Ministers have now decided to instead use technology provided by Apple and Google as part of the test and trace programme.
The aim had been to have an app fully working and in use by mid-May but there's still no date for it to come into operation.
Meanwhile, the lockdowns in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are being eased.
Huw Edwards presents BBC News at Ten reporting from Health Editor Hugh Pym, Scotland Editor Sarah Smith, Hywel Griffith in Cardiff and Emma Vardy in Belfast.
